Visit Orlando is banking on a spate of new hotels and attractions to bolster 2015 trade sales in the UK market.
A number of multi-million dollar projects in the city are scheduled for completion in the next six months.
Denise Speigel, director of global publicity for Visit Orlando, and her team have been working to educate agents and UK consumers about the new products.
“We have been running a consumer awareness campaign, including television advertising,” she said.
“A superfam involving 50 agents from the UK recently took place, and another is planned for next year.
“Education is vital at the moment because Orlando is going through one the most significant periods of expansion in its history.”
In spring, Merlin Entertainments is to open an entertainment complex called I-Drive 360, located on the city’s International Drive.
The facitility will be built around a 400-foot oberservation wheel called The Orlando Eye, a slightly smaller version of the London Eye on the banks of the River Thames.
A Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, Sea Life Aquarium and Skeletons: A Museum of Osteology, will also be based at the site.
Elsewhere in the city, the Walt Disney World Resort will open the first phase of Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) towards the end of the first quarter of the year.
It will include an upscale waterfront eatery call The Boathouse, and the Marimoto Asia restaurant created by TV chef Masharu Morimoto.
The project, which will double the current number of shops and restaurants, is scheduled for completion in 2016.
On the accommodation side, Starwood Hotels & Resorts is to open a property operating under its Element Hotels brand in July, called Element Orlando North.
