THISTLE Hotels is to introduce a reservations system that it claims will speed up booking for agents and allow them to view real-time availability.
The new ‘single image inventory’ links individual hotel reservation systems with the group’s central system as part of a £10m IT investment programme started last year.
The MICROS-Fidelio central reservation system has been installed in Thistle’s main reservation office.
The roll-out of a new property management system, MICROS-fidelio Front Office, to all of its 55 hotels is underway and will be completed by the end of the year.
An interface between the central reservation system and each hotel’s management system has also been developed. This allows a real time inventory of room availability to be seen at every hotel.
And from July 1, travel agents will benefit from the new system as Thistle’s central reservation system starts to interact with the major GDSs.
Agents will then be able to receive an accurate and up-to-the-minute guide of current availability at each of the Thistle hotels.
Meanwhile, Thistle’s Marble Arch hotel is among the latest to replace all of its exterior signage as part of the group’s three-year brand development programme to strengthen the Thistle name and position itself as a four star hotel group.
New signage will be installed at all Thistle hotels during 1999 using the brand name and location.
