Snow shuts Leeds Bradford airport

Leeds Bradford airport was shut earlier this morning due to a covering of snow.

The Yorkshire airport warned of possible disruption due to “adverse weather conditions”.

Passengers were urged to allow extra time for their journey to the airport.

The airport’s aviation development director, Tony Hallwood, told the BBC: “We’ve now got the snow clearing team on the runway and the taxiways to make sure we get open as quickly as possible.”

Delays will mainly affect departing flights and passengers should check in as usual.

Meanwhile, Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect services from Paddington were suspended due to a derailment.
