Voucher system aims to track AITO business

CARTA is planning to launch a voucher scheme to track how many bookings it is generating for AITOoperators.

Under the initiative, agents will fill in a voucher with the booking number, name of operator and its own name and send it to the AITOoffices on a monthly basis. Each operator will pay £1 for every booking made which will go into a central marketing pot and would also help to cut subscription and administration costs.

Launching the scheme, CARTAboard member Gordon Chapman Hatchett, of Golden Arrow Travel, said: “We want to sell the scheme to more agents and operators but to do this we need to prove that the system is working.”

Agents will be able to display stickers in their office when they complete in-house training with operators.

Tourist boards are expected to be asked to help sponsor some of the new initiatives.

CARTA is also launching a PR campaign to build awareness through local and national media after appointing Twickenham-based Travel PR which is run by former AITO chief executive Sue Ockwell.
