Jill Carter has been appointed Tui UK and Ireland’s new director of retail following the departure of Kathryn Darbandi (nee Ward).
Carter, previously head of retail sales, will be charged with leading the transformation of the retail business’s 649 shops in the UK and Ireland. She reports into customer operations director Fraser Ellacott.
Her appointment follows former director of retail Darbandi’s departure in September last year. Darbandi starts as UK retail director of Thomas Cook next month.
Ellacott said: “We are committed to developing a multi-channel distribution network with retail and online working alongside each other. 2015 marks a new era for our retail business as we focus on a strategy of innovation, investing in new technologies and service to enhance the customer experience.
“In her new role, Jill will lead this programme and work closely with other customer facing areas of our business to deliver a next generation holiday experience on the high street. With a wealth of retail experience from over 20 years in our business there is no one better placed to take on this role.”
Carter joined Tui UK & Ireland in 1991. She soon became regional sales manager and then as divisional sales manager. More recently she has been head of sales responsible for driving sales and service through the network of 649 Thomson shops.
She has also played a major role in the design of the new retail service model and the implementation of Thomson’s new Holiday Design Stores.
