AmaWaterways reveals Olympics bookings boost

AmaWaterways has reported sales for its France sailings from the UK market rose by more than a quarter year on year during the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Bookings for the luxury cruise line’s routes in the Seine, Rhone, Saone and Dordogne rivers between July 26 and September 8, 2024, increased by 28% compared to the same period last year.

Reservations made by UK agents for the routes along the Seine in Paris, where the opening ceremony took place as well as the triathlon and select swimming events, more than doubled (125%) over the same period.

AmaWaterways also revealed it will be paying out commission to 47% more individual travel agencies than it did between July 26 and September 8, 2023.

Jamie Loizou, AmaWaterways managing director, said: “The spotlight that the summer games has shone on Paris and the rest of France has acted to remind people what a very special part of the world it is.

“With eight itineraries now operating in France, including our two new Grand Voyages which combine the Seine with Bordeaux and the Rhone, our agent partners have capitalised not only on this increased interest, but also on the widest selection of departures we have ever had in France.”
