BAA said NATO action in Kosovo has led to a slowdown in growth at its seven UK airports. The airports owner recorded an increase of just 2.9% over May 1998 with a total of 9.8m passengers. BAA blamed the slower growth on long-haulpassengers, especially US customers, cancelling flights due to the Balkans crisis.

Bristol International Airport is in line to win the West ofEngland Business of the Year Award. The airport is up against five other firms vying to win a £10,000 cheque. Judges visited Bristol International first and were shown around by marketing director Mike Luddy.
