Silver Travel Advisor has announced plans to open its first high street shop in December.
The move comes three years after the over-50s specialist introduced a retail homeworking model to sit alongside its established website and magazine.
The store, located in Fulwood, Sheffield, is set to open next month ahead of peaks. Set across four floors, it will focus on tailor-made holidays, cruising and touring.
Silver Travel Advisor managing director Kerry Gallagher (pictured) said: “We’ve had an incredible few years, growing our homeworking team to 18 which has resulted in double digit growth each year.
“A retail presence was the natural next step and a way to expand our network and grow our footprint. We chose Fulwood, Sheffield, as the location for our first store as it is a lovely village with a strong community feel which aligns perfectly with our target audience.”
The shop will have space to host consumer and trade initiatives, with the aim of making it an important community asset.
Penny Worthy, commercial and partnerships director, said: “We want to be more than just a place for people to come and book a holiday; we want to be a part of the local community and provide best-in-class service.
“We’ll have space dedicated to hosting local events and gatherings, and working with our trusted travel partners, we’ll hold joint events to showcase our portfolio and what we can offer customers.
“There will also be a training room and office space to bring our team together and have a base for meetings and supplier engagement.”
Gallagher said Silver Travel Advisor has “ambitious growth plans”, adding: “The store brings along so many opportunities which complement our position as the leading voice of authority for the over-50s traveller.
“It’s an exciting time for us and we’re looking forward to the next phase of growth. This is our first step onto the high street, but there’s potential for further expansion next year. The key for us is choosing locations which align with our strategy and audience.”
Silver Travel Advisor has begun recruiting for three employees to staff the shop, ahead of its planned opening in December.
