Magic Rooms appoints two managing directors

Magic Rooms has appointed two managing directors to lead the business following the departure of Brian Young to become managing director EMEA of adventure operator G Adventures.

Chairman Manny Fontenla-Novoa (pictured) confirmed that current finance director Peter Redwood had been promoted to take on the HR, legal and IT elements of the managing director role, while Dean Jones has been recruited from Travelsoon and Travelbugz, where he was general manager, to oversee the sales, marketing and operational functions.

Jones previously worked with Fontenla-Novoa at ILG, Sunworld and Thomas Cook.

Magic Rooms was established by former Cook chief executive Fontenla-Novoa following the collapse of On Holiday Group in 2014, with former OHG sales director Young appointed as managing director.

Fontenla-Novoa claimed Magic Room was on track to achieve 250,000 customers in its first full year of trading, and said the business was now working with the majority of the travel trade.

“We have 96% of UK distribution with the eastern Mediterranean as one of our biggest strengths,” he claimed.

Fontenla-Novoa also confirmed that Jo Packham has been promoted from the purchasing department to purchasing director.
