TIPTO founder Gary David has selected Holiday Options as the Croatia operator and Transun as the day-trips operator following a dispute over which one would represent the destination.
David said he initially offered Transun the day-trip category and Holiday Options the Sardinia and Corsica category. However, both companies tried to stake a claim to the Croatia slot too, and he decided to give it to Holiday Options.
David said: “I can’t have two companies competing head-to-head,” he said. “The bottom line was just to go for one of these companies and I went for Holiday Options. It is a good Corsica and Sardinia operator and I thought it was more appropriate for a specialist operator category.”
David initially decided to reject Transun from any membership category and drop the day-trips category but has now reinstated both following talks with Oxford-based Transun.
“I am glad the matter has been resolved amicably. It would have been a pity if it had resulted in a permanent parting of the ways.”
Holiday Options chairman Jonathan Oakes said his company had applied to cover Corsica, Sardinia and Croatia, and it was happy to have been accepted by TIPTO. He denied there had been a dispute with Transun.
