A 10-day celebration is to be held at Key West in Florida to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of author Ernest Hemingway.
The Hemingway DaysFestival from July 16-25 will include literary events, street parades, parties and a Hemingway lookalike contest. Hemingway lived in Key West during the 1930s.

The European Blue Flag for high environmentalstandards has been awarded to 41 UKbeaches this year, compared to45 in 1998. The Tidy Britain Group, which co-ordinates the Blue Flag scheme in this country, said 16 beaches lost the awardand 12 gained it thisyear.
