Kuoni sees demand rise for tailor-made deals

KUONI has reported a growing number of customers tailor-making their own holidays.

Speaking at the launch of the long-haul specialist’s 2000 Worldwide brochure, deputy managing director Sue Biggs said 70% of customers now make alternative arrangements and use the operator’s brochure only as a guide.

She said travellers are becoming more confident about long-haul travel. “Five years ago only 20% of people tailor-made their holidays. Now seven out of 10 people make changes. Clients want the holiday they want, not what we might want it to be,” she said.

New for 2000 are weekly charter flights with Monarch to Kilimanjaro and Mombasa which allows a two-centre safari and beach holiday in Tanzania’s Serengeti and in Mombasa.

The flights on the Boeing 757 aircraft begins on January 4. “The charter cuts out the transfer from Nairobi which can take over 4hrs,” said Biggs.

Africa and the Middle East are expected to be growth areas in 2000 while Kenya and Egypt are faring well having largely recovered from recent turmoils.

Prices lead in at £699 for a seven-night tour of north India.
