TRANSACTION fees could replace management fees as the main way travel agents charge for their services in the future.
A management fee is paid by a client in one lump sum but a transaction fee enables agents to charge separate fees for every service they provide, such as booking a ticket or airport transfer.
Management consultant Colin Brain said:”The industry seems to be moving towards transaction fees. They’re easy to understand.”
Nestle UKbusiness travel co-ordinator Ian Nurdin said:”Transaction fees allow budget holders to know exactly how much has been spent and allow us to set menus.
But New Holland travel manager Dennis Bailey said:”I don’t fully understand how you can define what a transaction is and what cost is associated with it. It could be difficult to implement.”
