Consumer bedbank Alpharooms is creating a trade-only brand to start taking bookings from agents in January.
Trade site betabeds.com will offer more than 250,000 hotels in over 40,000 destinations “and access to almost every accommodation rate available”.
The introduction of the trade-facing brand is being managed by head of sales and operations, Emma Lelliott, who joined Alpharooms in August from Thomas Cook-owned MedHotels.
She reports to chief executive Jacky Bedlow, who joined the business in August 2014.
The new site, built by in-house technical teams, will be supported by a UK-based call centre in Sheffield.
It has been designed to be “simple, intuitive and user-friendly offering state-of-the-art functionality and speed,” according to the company
Bedlow said: “Alpharooms is one of the most established online sites in the industry and has enjoyed consistent growth since it started 14 years ago.
“Our expertise, knowledge and supplier network makes us perfectly positioned to launch an industry leading product for the trade, and is a natural direction for the business.
“The launch of betabeds.com is exciting milestone for the business, and is just the start of our ambitious growth plans for the future.”
