CELEBRITY Cruises has started taking bookings for its ship Infinity, which is due to be launched in February next year.
The $350,000 ship is currently being built in St Nazaire, France and will be the first Celebrity ship to enter the Hawaiian cruise market.
It will be a sister ship to Celebrity’s Millennium, which makes its maiden voyage on June 17.
Infinity’s first itinerary will be a 14-night cruise from Fort Lauderdale, calling at Key West, Cozumel in Mexico, Puerto Limon and Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, ending in San Diego, California. Prices start at $1,499 per person. Prices for a 10-night Hawaiian cruise including Maui, Kauai, Hawaii and Ensenada, start at $1,099.
Meanwhile, sister company Royal Caribbean International has signed a letter of intent to order a fourth and fifth sister ship to Voyager of the Seas, currently the largest cruise vessel in the world. If the deal goes ahead, the ships will be ready to join the fleet in 2002 and 2003, at a total cost of $1.1bn.
Two sister ships, Explorer of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas are being built and will be launched in the autumn of 2000 and 2001 respectively.
