Technical background


In previous articles I’ve considered smileys and other elements of Netiquette that can enhance you use of e-mail. This time, I introduce two further aspects, drawn from general on-line sources on Netiquette, such as:

l Tone of Voice: A common mistake when sending email is to WRITE IN UPPER CASE. This is taken to mean you are shouting at someone and being impolite.



l *Words in asterisks* are commonly to emphasise a word or short phrase.



l Abbreviations: There are also some common abbreviations, which avoid typing long sentences like
