THE Germany Travel Show will be paying special attention to the conference and incentive markets this year, with the setting up of a conference village at the event.
Under the banner Meetings Made in Germany, buyers can get together with representatives from hotels, tourist boards and conference centres in the conference village to discuss their requirements.
A range of tourist boards from the north and south will be grouped together in the village. These include the German Convention Bureau, Bremen Tourist Office and Convention Bureau, Heidelberg Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tourismus Zentrale Hamburg GmbH and CCH Congress Centrum Hamburg. Hoteliers represented will be Choice Hotels Germany GmbH, Rafael Hotels, Maritim Hotels, Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, Radisson SAS Hotels Worldwide and Park Plaza International Hotels and Resorts.
UK marketing manager for Hamburg John Ball said: “Unlike France, which has just one major city – Paris – for conferences and incentives, Germany has far more to offer as there are 10 cities on the conference and incentives circuit. The major ones are Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf.”
According to Ball, there were 770 conference and incentive gatherings in Hamburg last year from the UK market.
