Wightlink increases short-break self-catering for 2000

WIGHTLINK Holidays has added a selection of self-catering short breaks to its 2000 programme after seeing strong demand for the product last year when it was offered on a tailor-made basis.

Self-catering units are offered in both town and rural locations and cost from £69 per unit for three nights including ferry crossing.

Overall, Wightlink Holidays is offering more properties, with an expanded bed-and-breakfast accommodation section and more rural self-catering cottages.

The ferry operator also features short breaks in more than 50 hotels – a new child friendly accommodation table highlights properties most suitable for the family market. Conversely, clients anxious to avoid children can call the tour operator for a list of adult-only hotels. Also new for 2000 are themed holidays, including ‘tranquillity’ stays at Foxhills Hotel in Shanklin from £204 per person for two nights, including aromatherapy and massage treatments, and budget cycling breaks. These cost from £105 per person bed and breakfast including bike hire, route books and return ferry crossing.

Clients booking a summer short break or longer stay on the island can take advantage of the Little Canada club, new for 2000, which provides a supervised adventure day out for children aged seven-16. The club costs £20 a day per child including lunch.

Wightlink operates to the Isle of Wight from Portsmouth and Lymington.

Red Funnel, which operates from Southampton to Cowes, has added five B&B properties to its holidays programme for this year, taking the total of B&B guesthouses and farmhouses to 15 with prices from £49 per person for two nights including crossings with a car.

The operator also features five more two and three-star hotels with prices from £58 per person for two nights and has expanded its range of self-catering accommodation to include Grange Farm Cottages in Wootton, Pinings Corner and Alma Cottage in Yarmouth.
