A FURTHER shake-up is expected at Caledonian Airways after its commercial functions were brought under the control of Thomas Cook’s UKtour operating division.
It follows Thomas Cook’s decision to base its aviation business on the Flying Colours model (Travel Weekly April 5).
Industry observers said it further underlines the belief that Thomas Cook’s merger with Carlson is more in line with a takeover.
Glen Chipp will become aviation director of UK tour operations in place of Anette Rayner. She will continue to act as an external advisor on the integration process.
Chipp’s position as acting managing director of doomed Inspirations has been taken by overseas director Gareth Lewis.
Thomas Cook tour operations managing director Simon Vincent said:”In essence, the airlines will operate as the transportation division of the tour operator.”
Meanwhile, Gold Crest managing director Phil Wyatt has left, and Flying Colours Airfares general manager Bob Thompson will take responsibility for seat-only operation Golden Lion and the integration of FBI.
