SABRE has joined forces with IBM and Nokia to develop a real-time service which will allow passengers to receive airline updates using the Internet over their mobile telephones.
For example, if a traveller has had a meeting rescheduled or is running late for a flight, the interactive service allows them to make arrangements on the road.
The phone receives the airline information and the service combines Sabre Business Travel Solutions, the company’s online corporate travel purchasing system with IBM e-business technologies and Nokia’s latest hi-tech 7110 telephone.
Customers will use their telephone’s graphical display to request flight details, change their flight or search for alternatives. The GDS will also send a message to the customer if a flight has been delayed or cancelled. No date for when the service will be available has been announced.
