BOTH major Canadian scheduled airlines – Air Canada and Canadian Airlines – have announced plans to increase capacity and trade support, as well as improve in-flight service products this year.
For this summer, Air Canada introduces its first double-daily service between Heathrow and Vancouver in addition to its daily Calgary flights. The London-Toronto route will also see extra services, with up to 30 flights a week.
In addition, the airline is reintroducing daily nonstop flights to Toronto from both Manchester and Glasgow from June 1-September 30.
With the introduction of more Airbus A340 aircraft on the North Atlantic, Air Canada takes delivery, during the course of this year, of a new Sony video on-demand entertainment system for its Executive First cabin.
Meanwhile, new-look Canadian Airlines is operating its biggest-ever schedule of UK-Canada services this summer.
It introduces a second daily service from Heathrow to Calgary on Saturdays and Sundays from June 4-September 26 and a fourth weekly Ottawa flight from June 3.
This follows the launch of the airline’s three-times weekly Ottawa schedule last summer and it hopes to increase frequencies to daily if it gets the slots.
