n Hilton gets second Budapest hotel



Hilton International is to manage a second hotel in Budapest called the Hilton West End. The chain already has a property, the Hilton Budapest, in the heart of the historic Castle district in the old town of Buda. The new 232-room property is due to open in the third quarter of 2000 and is part of a $25mcommercial, cultural and entertainment complex called West End City Centre.



n Sofitel agents to benefit from low rates



Six Sofitel hotels have been integrated into the group’s STAR programme which gives agents low fixed rates on personal leisure stays at more than 100 properties worldwide. The new additions include the Hotel Mirimar and the Hotel Regina and du Golfin Biarritz, the Hotel Gran Mahakam in Jakara and the Hotel Sofitel Plaza Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. Rates lead in at $79 per room per night including breakfast at Sofitels in Cairo and Lisbon.



n Feng Shui influence for Bloomsbury hotel



A 76-room townhouse hotel, designed by Terence Conran’s design company CD Partnership, has opened. Called myhotel, the four-star property is located in Bloomsbury, in central London. Owned by entrepreneur Andrew Thrasyvoulou, the hotel cost ú10m to build and is to be followed by further projects inLondon. It is targeted atthe high-spending, youthful, creative market, which is tired of staying atconventional hotels. Thedesign process was influenced by feng shui expert William Spear to create a calm environment.
