QUALIFLYER airlines are considering implementing a joint commission policy which is set to lead to cuts for agents.
The 10-strong partnership, which includes Swissair, Sabena and Austrian Airlines, is the only global group which has not followed British Airways’ lead in cutting rates.
Sabena general manager UK and Ireland Marc Nelis said the commission issue was being looked at with the Belgian airline’s partners.
He said: “Lufthansa and SAS have gone to the next step and cut commission and we will make a joint decision with all the Qualiflyer airlines.
“We will do it in partnership with our distribution network.”
Nelis was concerned a unified approach be adopted as Qualiflyer airlines cover most of Europe.
BA, Lufthansa, SAS and KLM have all cut UKrates from 9% to 7% and Air France is expected to follow.
Swissair general manager UK and Ireland Kirk Albrow said it had cut commission from 9% to 7% on April 1 for Swiss agents.
