DEUTCHE BA-IBERIA DEAL BOOSTS ALLIANCE
Deutche BA has signed a codeshare deal with Iberia which has just joined the Oneworld airline alliance. It will enable the Germancarrier to also forge closer ties with other Oneworld carriers.
SMALLER PROPERTIES PROMOTED BY JAMAICA
A brochure containing 31 smaller properties in Jamaica is being sent to 1,300 specialist agents in the UK. The Jamaican Tourist Board is also planning to set up a European reservations centre to boost sales to the island.
UGANDAN MASSACRE HITS NEIGHBOURS’ TRADE
The massacre of eight tourists in Uganda could have a damaging effect on tourism in neighbouring African countries, the World Tourism Organisation has warned. Speaking at ITB in Berlin, WTO African representative Ousmane N’Diaye said Kenya, Zaire, Ethopia and Tanzania could all be hit.
