Breakout tours to local sights and attractions will be included in the registration price for the first time at this year’s third annual Caribbean Sustainable Tourism Conference.
The Caribbean Tourism Organisation conference, which is being held in the Surinam capital Paramaribo from April 9-13, is also attracting big name speakers from the world of tourism and conservation.
Keynote speaker is Russell Mittermeier, president of Washington-based Conservation International, while other speakers include Robert Collier, chairman of Green Globe and formerly president of Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, and Geoffrey Lipman, president of the World Travel and Tourism Council.
The tour programme has been planned to give delegates a taste of what Surinam has to offer in terms of natural, ecological and historical attractions.
Full-day tours will include trips deep into the rainforest and visits to Amerindian and Maroon villages, while half-day options include a Paramaribo city tour and river tour.
The cost of the registration package, which includes tours, transfers and five-nights’ accommodation is $395 per person.
Next year’s conference will take place in April in Guyana. Dates have yet to be announced.
