SAS has confirmed it is to reduce UK agents’ basic commission from 9% to 7% on April 1, as exclusively revealed in Travel Weekly on February 24.
The move coincides with its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa bringing in the same changes next month.
The Scandinavian carrier’s best agents will be offered opportunities to gain extra commission by signing up to an incentive programme.
SAS sales and marketing manager Robin Kamark said UK agents will be able to earn over the current 9% rate under the new scheme. However, he refused to say what maximum payments will be. “We want to build partnerships with major agents and give rewards to these agents,” said Kamark.
