LAST week I had an enquiry from some clients wanting to book a millennium break in Scotland. I phoned around and secured accommodation at the Swallow Hotel in Dundee. The cost was ú4,000.
The clients confirmed the booking. I phoned the hotel again, only to be told the rate is non-commissionable, as it is a millennium package.
If we want commission they will issue a confirmation for ú4,400 less our commission, but the client could contact the hotel direct and book it for ú4,000.00. Do hotels value travel agents? Obviously Swallow Hotels doesn’t.
