Keys properties renovated after hurricane


a number of renovated properties are due to reopen in the Florida Keys and Key West area following damage caused by Hurricane Georges last year.



Historic Key Lime Inn opens its doors in February after extensive alterations to the 37 rooms in cottages and duplexes around the original house, which dates back to 1854. Other work includes a new reception building, remodelled pool and landscaping.



More than $750,000 has been spent on the Days Inn at Islamorada, where all 35 suites have been refurbished and a new pool and marina added.



Hawk’s Cay Resort and Marina on Duck Key has added a new swimming pool and 130 two-bedroom waterfront villas to its 176 rooms and 16 suites.



Little Palm Island Resort has opened after extensive work involving a new welcome centre, expanded spa facilities and a new restaurant deck.



Other developments saw the opening this month of the 8.5-acre Historic Seaport waterfront area at Key West Bight including restaurants, shops and historic structures based on its seafaring heritage.
