CADOGON Holidays has joined forces with Jersey tourism officials, Condor Ferries and Budget Rent A Car to launch an upmarket programme to Jersey which features just eight properties.
The four have shared the ú100,000 production costs after Cadogan admitted it failed to get its previous Jersey product right.
The result is the 36-page Creme de la Creme brochure.
In an unusual move, the eight hotels will have the right to veto the inclusion of any additional Jersey properties for three years.
“What we have created is a club and, like any club, the members will have a strong say when it comes to policy,” said Cadogan managing director Gary David.
He admitted the two previous programmes to Jersey – which followed the acquisition of specialist Sun Blessed Holidays – contained too much budget accommodation.
“When we examined our sales, we saw clients had ignored the one and two-star properties. About 85% of our bookings were for a handful of hotels,” he said.
He said 100 hotels had been featured in its first programme to Jersey and 40 in the second.
“Hopefully we have now got it right,” he said.
