Cunard plans refurbishments

CUNARDLine is to spend $38m on giving QE2, Royal Viking Sun and Vistafjord a facelift this year.

President and chief executive office Larry Pimentel said $18m would be spent on a major interior redesign and refurbishment of the QE2, but there would be no structural changes.

He stressed that the style would remain totally British.

Royal Viking Sun will get a $15m facelift before joining the Seabourn fleet under the new name Seabourn Sun.

Vistafjord, which is to be renamed Caronia, will get a $5m refit, involving changes to soft furnishings. The work will be carried out during dry-dock periods later this year, and will not affect millennium cruises.
