Further information/factfile: the European Collection 2000 brochure features 60 privately owned hotels including a variety of town houses. It is available from the Massey Partnership. A Web site www.massey.co.uk also allows agents to e-mail their bookings direct to the properties.
How to book: 30% of townhouse bookings are made through agents. Most town houses offer a commission of 8%-10% and have a policy of payment within 30 days. Rates start at £145 per night and rise to around £320.
