Job pledge fails to keep Flying Colours’ Cossey at Thomas Cook

FLYING Colours Airlines founder Errol Cossey has quit the Thomas Cook group despite being promised a future at the company.

Cossey is believed to have become disillusioned at Thomas Cook and has previously gone on record as saying he dislikes the image of large corporate firms.

UK travel chief executive Nigel Hards said his departure was a disappointment.

“We knew it was a possibility he would go after completing the merger of Flying Colours and Airworld. There is no question of Errol being forced out. He would have had a role in the new company but he felt it was in his best interests to leave.”

Hards denied Cossey had quit following speculation that the Flying Colours name would be dropped in favour of Caledonian. “Until we get European approval for the Carlson deal we cannot make any decision. At the moment we have only done superficial research into the two brands. It may be that we keep them both.”
