n Malaysia makes play for 2008 Olympic Games



Malaysia is bidding to stage the Olympic Games in the year 2008 in an effort to attract tourists and reuse the ú300m facilities built for the 1998 Commonwealth Games.



n Futuroscope sets opening date for new ride



Futuroscope is opening the Pavilion Atlantis at the end of this year. A simulated ride called Race for Atlantis will involve a chariot race viewed in 3D on a cinema screen.

n Finland unveils festival dates



Finland is promoting a string of music festivals this summer. They include a chamber music festival in Korsholm, starting on June 27, the Ruisrock rock festival in Turku on July 2/3, and the month-long Savonlinna Opera Music Festival in July.



n Perthshire publishes new guide for trade



Perthshire Tourist Board has published a guide aimed at helping the travel trade put together programmes to the region. It includes lists of meal stops, accommodation and suggested touring itineraries. Call 01738 627958 for details.



n disabled people to benefit from training course



Travel charities Holiday Care Service and the Travel and Tourism Programme have launched a training course about travel opportunities for disabled people. The module has been distributed to 1,500 schools and colleges. For a copy, call 01844 344208.
