Shearings sells school trips arm

Shearings has sold its school trips arm School Travel Service to former Skibound chief John Bowden for an undisclosed sum.

Shearings chief executive John Slatcher said the company wanted to concentrate on its 55-plus target group. STS carries 45,000 passengers a year.

Bowden sold school specialist Skibound to First Choice in October 1995 but continued in his role as managing director of First Choice Ski until late 1997 when he left the company.
