AIRTOURS TARGET


Airtours is rumoured to be interested in US tour operation Go Go Worldwide Vacations according to reports from the US as Travel Weekly went to press. New Jersey-based Go Go is one of the largest operators in the US. Airtours share price rose 30.5p to close at 492p on Thursday night. Neither was available for comment.


VETERAN GETS TOP JOB


Radisson Seven Seas Cruises and V Ships Leisure has appointed industry veteran Michael Baker to spearhead adrive to increase its UK presence. As vice-president for sales and marketing for the UK, Baker will concentrate on increasing Radisson’s investment in the UK through newly formed Radisson Seven Seas Cruises UK and plans to take advantage of the tie-up between owner Carlson and Thomas Cook.


LA EYES LONDON PLAN


The LosAngelesConvention and Visitor Bureau is to open a London office at the beginning of May. A team of three will be headed by director Francine Sheridan, who was previously European marketing manager at Visit Florida. The address of the new office is 60 St James Street, London SW1A 1LE.


COMMISSION BOOST


Bournemouth-based Euroscot Express is increasing agents commission from 9% to 20% on ticket sales until June 30. The increase starts today on sales of Euroscot’s Glasgow and Edinburgh flights.


FRIENDLY PROFITS HIKE


Friendly Hotels almost doubled pre-tax profit from ú7.8m to ú14.7m for the year to December 27 1998.
