Thailand teams up with Vietnam in move to develop regional travel links

Thailand and Vietnam have agreed to promote travel and tourism between the two countries and are seeking to develop new travel links and joint marketing programmes.

Tourism Authority of Thailand chairman Pavena Hongsakula said: “We want to set Thailand as the natural gateway to Laos and Vietnam and hope to boost access and flights.”

There are 14 direct flights between Bangkok and Hanoi operated by Thai Airways, Air France and Vietnam Airlines; 17 weekly flights between Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City operated by Thai and Vietnam Airlines; and three flights between Bangkok and Danang by Thai. Overland routes from Vietnam to Thailand via Laos are being planned and new roads and bridges are being built.
