n queensland tourism torres strait festival


Queensland Tourism is promoting The Torres Strait Cultural Festival which takes place in September on Thursday Island in the far north of the state. It celebrates the culture, arts and language of the people of the Torres Strait with food, arts, music and traditional singing and dancing. n melbourne’s five-star westin now open


A five-star Westin hotel has opened in the heart of Melbourne. The 262-room property is located on Regent Place and boasts a Therapeutic Wellness Centre and pool, Westin Kids Club and extensive conference facilities.


n south australia makes play for wine initiatives


South Australia plans to work closely with the country’s new Wine Tourism Advisory Board to promote itself as the premier wine tourism destination. A third of all visitors to South Australia include a winery visit on their itinerary. Joint initiatives will include accreditation of service providers, establishment of wine and food discovery trails and the formation of a strategic marketing plan. In addition, the state will host the Third Australian Wine Tourism Conference between August 13-15 this year which is expected to attract 400 wine and tourism industry representatives from all over Australia.

Brisbane’s Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort has launched a new catamaran service cutting the journey time between downtown Brisbane and Moreton Island to 60 minutes.From June to October the catamaran will also offer visitors daily whalewatching tours. Tangalooma gives guests the opportunity to handfeed wild dolphins in their natural environment.
