Wormwell predicts strong return to Turkey
JMC has increased capacity to Turkey by 10% to just under 200,000 holidays next year. The company cut capacity this year due to the terrorist threats and earthquakes suffered by the destination last year.
Sales and UKoperations director Denis Wormwell admitted that capacity is still not back up to earlier levels, but expressed confidence that Turkey would recover in time.
“Turkey has had a bit of a drop in numbers this year, which is why Greece and Cyprus are doing well. But we expect Turkey to come back strongly in 2001,” he said.
Meanwhile, JMC has added two new destinations to its long-haul programme this year. It has added flights to La Romana in the Dominican Republic and Ciego de Avila in Cuba next year.
Wormwell said the operator had benefited from synergies within the TUI group, which had allowed it to add new four and five-star hotels in the RIU chain to its long-haul product.
