Tourism Queenslandto cash inon Olympics with diving guide
New dedicated brochure
Report by LOIS JONES
TOURISM Queensland has launched a dedicated diving brochure ahead of an expected influx of visitors to the destination for the Olympic Games this summer. The brochure, called Dive Into Queensland, is aimed at all those interested in the sport, from complete beginners to experienced divers.
Tourism Queensland’s previous diving brochure, introduced in 1995, was focused solely at keen divers.
The new brochure provides information on the Great Barrier Reef, ranging from what there is to see underwater to different ways for divers to experience the Reef.
The brochure also outlines frequently asked questions and answers and a list of dive schools offers contact details for those wishing to learn.
The brochure is available to both agents and consumers.
Susan Rallings, Tourism Queensland’s manager for the UK/Ireland and Scandinavia said: “As home to the Great Barrier Reef and with more than 120,000 people experiencing their first scuba dive each year in Tropical North Queensland alone, we have launched this brochure in our continued effort to support agents.”
The brochure has been launched ahead of an expected influx of visitors to Australia due to interest in the Olympics later this year.
“Dive Into Queensland will help agents sell one of the world’s greatest attractions. This is especially important in the run-up to the Olympic Games, when Queensland is expected to receive 50% of Olympic visitors,” said Rallings.
