Comment: Agents and agencies deserve the greatest recognition

Make sure your agency superstars and your businesses are in the running for the Agent Achievement Awards, says Travel Weekly’s Lucy Huxley

I certainly don’t need any persuading about the value of a good travel agent after more than two decades writing about the industry.

But I still get a real buzz when I hear stories showcasing the skill, knowledge and professionalism of our amazing readers.

You may already have read the great story from this week’s edition, but suffice to say Barrhead Travel’s Sarah Perry is a great example of what can be achieved when you build a personal connection and gain the trust of your customers.

Alongside the best news, analysis and product features in the business, shining a light on our readers’ successes is a core part of what we do at Travel Weekly.

And we don’t just celebrate you in the trade’s only weekly magazine, we also do so online, on social media and through the fantastic Agent Achievement Awards.

There is now just over a month to go until the deadline for entries and nominations, so please ensure you and your colleagues are in contention.

There are individual awards for agents, young agents, managers, support team workers and those supporting staff mental health – and company awards for agencies building their commitment to sustainability, those which offer unrivalled places to work and those just starting on their journeys.

If you are a supplier, you also have just a few weeks left to vote for your top trade partners in a range of regions and specialisms, and we’ll be publishing our usual Roll of Honour to thank those who vote.
