Comment: Time to honour the trade’s resilience and resourcefulness

Make sure you reward your partners and colleagues at the 2022 Agent Achievement Awards, says Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley

It was a huge relief this week to see so many customers finally able to go abroad for half-term, and although the situation in Ukraine remains troubling, there has been more positive news in the shape of clarification of testing requirements for families planning trips to France and Spain this Easter .

As the resilience and resourcefulness shown by so many in the industry begins to pay off in the shape of more sales and revenue, I am looking forward to celebrating those attributes not once, but twice in the coming months.

In just four weeks’ time, I will have the opportunity to congratulate the trade’s top suppliers in person at the rescheduled Globe Travel Awards. And as we revealed this week, it won’t be long before I have the chance to do the same for the UK & Ireland’s best travel agents and agencies as the Agent Achievement Awards return to their traditional summer date.

During lockdown, we held a variety of virtual events to keep our readers and partners inspired, connected and supported, but the return of the AAAs last autumn proved beyond doubt that there is no substitute for getting together to celebrate in person.

As always, the 2022 AAAs offer suppliers the chance to thank and reward their top agencies, and we have also introduced new categories to recognise commitment to staff development, sustainability and mental health.

I would urge you all to get involved to help us champion the people and brands that make our industry so special.
