Aer Lingus to restart daily service to Connecticut

Aer Lingus will restart a daily service from Dublin to Hartford in Connecticut in 2023.

Flights will return from March 26 and will be the only direct route from Europe to the US state.

The airline’s 16th North Atlantic service will use an Airbus A321neo aircraft and fares start from £229 each way.

Passengers travelling from Dublin can use the airport’s immigration pre-clearance service before they depart, so they can arrive at Bradley International airport like a domestic passenger and avoid queues.

The announcement comes a week after the airline revealed it is adding Cleveland in Ohio to its transatlantic network from May 19, 2023.

Chief executive Lynn Embleton said: “Daily flights to Hartford will bring travellers into the centre of Connecticut, home to global business, Yale University and renowned tourist attractions.

“Aer Lingus is forging ahead with its North American expansion plans, growing the number of transatlantic routes from its Dublin hub.”

Kevin Dillon, Connecticut airport authority executive director, said: “The resumption of the Aer Lingus route has been a major priority in our recovery strategy.

“We look forward to rebuilding the service, continuing the strong momentum it had prior to the onset of the pandemic, and bringing back easy and quick transatlantic access with an award-winning airline.”
