Back in Time for Bed plans regional event in Newcastle

Newcastle airport has been chosen to host the second event from new parent support group Back in Time for Bed.

Called ‘Balancing work and family’, the summit will take place on the morning of Friday September 22.

Created by travel industry figures Vicky Billing, head of partnerships at Riviera Travel, and Anna Perrott, head of supplier relations at Panache Cruises, the group was launched in February to support working parents and guardians in the sector.

It provides a forum to discuss challenges, share tips and recommendations from other parents, and access more formal advice and resources.

Three of the guest speakers at the Newcastle summit will be from the airport: Leon McQuaid, aviation development director; Kate Hall, head of marketing and communications; and Laura Hartshorne, senior aviation executive.

They will be joined by Billing and Annelene Hutton, managing director at agency chain Dawson and Sanderson.

The morning will include an introduction to the Back in Time for Bed initiative, along with the sharing of personal stories, quick wins, hints and tips for working parents.

Billing said: “Anna and I are so excited to host our first regional event for Back in Time for Bed.

“We really want to support all our fellow industry colleagues across the country as we appreciate it can quite difficult if you live outside of London, and we don’t want anyone to miss out.

“On a personal note, Newcastle International Airport is my closest regional airport, and I feel proud that the first regional event will be held in the wonderful northeast.”

Hartshorne added: “We are delighted to be supporting the Back in Time for Bed initiative by hosting this event at the airport.

“As a mother of one myself, and a job which takes me out on the road a lot of the time, I understand how challenging it can be to manage work and family.

“The event will be a fantastic opportunity to get together with other parents from across the industry and the northeast and raise awareness of the challenges and the opportunities available for working parents and guardians in the industry.”

The group’s first event is a family fun day on Sunday (September 3) onboard Royal Caribbean International’s Anthem of the Seas in Southampton.

As well as activities for parents and children, the event will be a networking opportunity and a chance to experience what the ship has to offer.

It is expected that 60 guests will attend the Newcastle airport event. For more information and attendee registration, click here.
