British Airways will resume flights between the UK and mainland China this spring, after a two-year absence amid the pandemic.
Tickets have gone on sale today for flights to Shanghai and Beijing.
Flights will operate daily between Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, from April 23. Then, from June 3, there will be four services per week between Heathrow and Beijing Daxing Airport.
BA first flew to China in 1980 and continued to do so until the pandemic.
Noella Ferns, BA’s head of sales for Asia Pacific, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our customers back on board our flights from Shanghai and Beijing. We know they’ve been looking forward to reuniting with family and friends, coming to study in the UK and resuming business between China and the UK.
“We have an incredibly rich history of flying to mainland China, having connected the two countries for more than 40 years.”
Quarantine for travellers to China was scrapped on January 8, as authorities eased the country’s zero-Covid policy.
Virgin Atlantic will restore services to China in May, with its first flights to Shanghai since the start of the pandemic.
