Tui issues ‘unusual adverse weather’ alert

Travel dates and destinations may change due to bad weather across Europe, Tui UK & Ireland has warned.

The possibility was raised in an alert on the operator’s website yesterday (Tuesday).

Tui said: “We are currently seeing unusual adverse weather conditions in a small number of destinations across Europe which we know is causing concern for some of our customers due to travel.

“Please be assured that we actively monitor weather conditions in all the destinations we visit to be sure it is safe for our customers and colleagues.

“Should there be any concerns about a destination then we will be in direct contact with customers with options for their holiday.”

“This might be a change in travel date or the option to change their holiday to a different destination.”

The company added: “Our priority is looking after our customers and ensuring they have a safe and happy holiday.”

The update came the day that Tui Group confirmed the extension of its summer programmes to Greece and Turkey into November.

The group also revealed that it would have performed “ahead of expectations” this summer had it not been for the wildfires in Rhodes and other events outside its control.
