Blue Bay Travel has appointed Matt Wood as its lead developer amid plans to expand its sales through agent partners.
Wood re-joined the travel agency and tour operator in May, having previously worked for the business as a web developer from 2019 to 2021. Before re-joining, he spent 16 months in a management position at online learning solutions provider Growth Engineering.
Reporting into software developer manager Alex Bowers, Wood will train a team of six developers.

Blue Bay said the hire will see Wood drive development of the company’s systems and technology as it “continues to grow its direct-to-consumer business and expand its sales through travel agent partners”.
Wood said: “I have an established working relationship with many of Blue Bay’s developers already, thanks to my time as a web developer for the business, and I’m impressed to see how the team has grown and acquired new skills during the time I was away, despite the challenges that Covid brought.
“With my prior experience and the leadership experience I have gained while away, I hope to be able to make a swift impact on the team and its goals.”
Blue Bay Travel chief executive Alistair Rowland said: “Ensuring we have a well-resourced team of highly talented developers is crucial to the success of Blue Bay Travel.
“As a business, we like to be nimble and able to react quickly to changing market conditions and our superior technology allows us to do this very successfully.
“We have doubled our development department in the last year and are really proud of the work that the team does to create a seamless experience for our direct customers and trade partners alike.”
