Cruise, hybrid bike and wine-tasting available in AmaWaterways incentive

AmaWaterways will give away a series of prizes in a six-week agent incentive programme beginning on January 18.

Running to February 22, the river cruise line will base each week’s prizes on a “key theme that really differentiates AmaWaterways”, UK and Ireland managing director Jamie Loizou said, such as wellbeing, cuisine and destinations.

Each week, a member of the AmaWaterways team will feature on a Travel Weekly Facebook video to educate the trade on that week’s theme and to ask a question.

Agents will then be able to visit the Travel Weekly website to answer the question and be entered into that week’s prize draw to win goodies including a hybrid bike, Nespresso machine and wine-tasting experience.

Additionally, all agents who enter the competition will be entered into a separate draw to win a seven-night European cruise for two.

The prize giveaway will run alongside AmaWaterway’s wave campaign where it is offering free flights and overseas transfers and savings of up to £1,500 per couple on select 2024 and 2025 cruises for bookings made by March 31, 2024.

Loizou said the incentive has been launched to say thank you to the trade for its “phenomenal” performance in 2023, in which the line saw a 78% year-on-year increase in the number of UK travel agencies booking sailings and paid more commission than in any other year in its history.

“Working with the trade is our sole focus; they are our extended sales and marketing arm and we want to say a big thank you to all our travel agent partners for supporting us,” Loizou said.

“Our agents’ success is our success and I hope we’re able to pay out even more in commission in 2024 than we have before.”
