MSC Cruises replaces Red Sea season with Canary Islands sailings

MSC Cruises will redeploy MSC Opera from its planned Red Sea season to the Canary Islands for winter 2024-25 due to a risk of shipping in the region.

On sale now, MSC Opera will operate seven-night itineraries with six ports of call between November 3 and March 16, 2025.

Destinations include Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Tenerife; Las Palmas, Gran Canaria; Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura; Funchal, Madeira; Santa Cruz de la Palma, La Palma; and Arrecife, Lanzarote.

The line has also cancelled three repositioning Grand Voyage sailings in April because of the continued risk to shipping in the Red Sea.

Antonio Paradiso, vice-president of international sales for MSC Group’s cruise division and UK & Ireland managing director of MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, said: “We know this sailing will be popular among all European guests, especially those from the UK and Ireland, which is why itineraries are now on sale.”
