Oman to host luxury showcase with Travel Weekly sister brand Connections

Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism has teamed with Travel Weekly sister-brand Connections to showcase the country’s luxury tourism product to selected global travel agents and buyers.

The bespoke Connections Oman event will take place in Muscat from November 21-24, with 30 hosted buyers meeting leading brands including Al Bustan Palace, a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, AFAQ Travel and Tourism, Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, W Muscat, Bait Al Zubair Museum and the Royal Opera House Muscat.

Connections is an international private community for senior executives in high-end travel, and its events focus on the ‘Connections Way’ of developing lasting business relationships through shared memorable experiences.

Authentic activities on offer for delegates include opportunities to try traditional Omani musical instruments, experience hospitality with dates and coffee and learn about the renowned Omani frankincense tree.

In addition to business meetings, delegates will also join an educational programme, including a discussion on the future of luxury travel in the Middle East featuring Maitha Al Mahrouqi, undersecretary of tourism for Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, and Clive Jacobs, chairman of Connections’ parent company Jacobs Media Group.

They will also hear from special guest Nadhira Alharthy, who will share her inspiring story as the first Omani woman to have successfully climbed Mount Everest in a dedicated ConnecTALKS seminar.

Al Mahrouqi said: “Oman is making its return as a luxury travel destination to worldwide visitors, and we’re delighted to be hosting Connections Oman to help continue the process of recovery and resurgence.

“We have seen how successful the Connections Way of doing business is in helping forge long-term business relationships, and it’s crucial we provide valuable opportunities for Oman tourism to help drive investment back into the region.”

Micaela Giacobbe, founder and managing director of Connections, added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Her Excellency and the Oman Ministry of Heritage & Tourism to deliver the first Connections event in Muscat.

“This edition has received outstanding interest from our luxury buyer community, and we are looking forward to showcasing the best of Oman to our invited agencies to help expand their product and experience portfolios.”
