Operators ask agents to wait for ‘official confirmation’ of France travel ban

Tour operators have asked agents and holidaymakers to bear with them while they await official confirmation of a ban on British tourists to France.

It follows media reports that France is set to ban travel to and from the UK without “compelling reasons” from Saturday morning (December 18).

The French government is set to make an official announcement in the next “few hours” according to reports.

In response to the reports, tour operator Inghams tweeted to travel agents: “Until we have further news on the speculation of French quarantine, please do not contact us.

“We don’t know any more than you at this stage. We will update you as we have more information.”

Crystal Ski also tweeted to say it was “aware of media reports that France will be banning travel to and from the UK from Saturday morning”, but said: “We’re awaiting official confirmation and we’ll be in contact with [those] affected shortly. We’ll also contact customers currently on holiday with us if they are impacted.”
